Bio

My interest in journalism stems from the idea of uncovering the truth about the world we live in. I have used my time with Carlmont's Scot Scoop as an opportunity to highlight important stories in and outside my community. Through my work, I try to shed light on the successes along with the challenges we face as a global community.

How I got here

During my sophomore year of high school, I became a member of Scot Scoop and knew I wanted to be part of the team for my junior and senior years of high school. Initially drawn to news writing, a subject that had always intrigued me, I dedicated much of my sophomore year to writing news stories of events in my community. I constantly challenged myself to produce increasingly compelling articles, eventually transitioning to the style of feature and opinion writing by the end of the year. At the start of the second semester of my sophomore year, I became an editor intern. I loved it so much that by junior year, I was appointed as a full-time editor. As an editor, my responsibilities include editing multiple articles a week along with voting on and writing editorials for the publication. When I am not editing or writing for Scot Scoop, I am writing for our magazine, the Highlander.

Apart from my involvement in journalism, I find joy in being a part of Carlmon't advanced choral group: Chamber Singers. I have always loved music, as I have been playing the piano for nine years. Additionally, I serve as an ambassador on the 8th-grade transition team, helping incoming students navigate their way through the exciting, but scary at times, transition to high school. In my spare time, I find enjoyment in participating in a capella groups outside of school, being involved in Carlmont's improv team, and hanging out with friends.
